Research Overview

Interests in mathematical physics and the planetary environment originally drew to me to the field of physical oceanography, and continue to motivate my research. My areas of focus include the general fluid dynamics and thermodynamics of the ocean and atmosphere; coastal and arctic meteorology; coastal, mesoscale and large-scale ocean circulation; and the instabilities and nonlinear dynamics of geophysical fluids. In this work, my general goal is and has been to improve our basic understanding of important physical processes through a combination of theoretical, numerical, and observational methods.
